To begin our New Year’s Eve celebration, we went to Flint by Baltaire. Flint by Baltaire is at the Esplanade, which I hadn’t been to in years! There are so many new restaurants and bars! I am a planner—I made our New Year’s Eve dinner reservations over a month ahead of time. So I had plenty of time to get excited about trying this restaurant.
The restaurant is open concept with a large bar area. I can’t wait to go back for happy hour! We were seated at a four-person table, which I loved because we had plenty of space! And this was not the type of restaurant where there are millions of two-person tables inches apart. We had just enough privacy!
To start, we ordered Wood Grilled Spanish Octopus and Wood Roasted Cauliflower. I didn’t get a picture of the octopus because we started eating it right away (that’s what happens when you’re hungry)! The octopus was delicious. I really enjoyed the smoky romesco sauce. The cauliflower was also really good but we only ate about half because it was filling!
For dinner, we ordered the Grilled 8oz Filet Mignon and the Braised Wagyu Short Rib & Taleggio Agnolotti from the New Year’s Eve featured specials menu. Because I am starting a Whole30 reset tomorrow I wanted to indulge a little and this pasta was a perfect choice! We also enjoyed the filet and I loved the crispy Yukon gold potatoes that came with it!
Overall, we really enjoyed dinner. It was the perfect ending to the year and decade. Gregg and I reminisced together. We talked about how the way we celebrate NYE has changed over the last decade, and for me, I was still in high school at the beginning of the decade so a lot has changed!
We had so much fun! There was a table set up for 14 people and we kept guessing who was going to be at that table. We were there when the guests started to arrive but it seemed like the couples didn’t know each other—I was convinced it was winners of an Instagram contest or something like that! I also wore a “Happy New Year” headband, which everyone called a crown, and every time Gregg and I tried to take a picture it would accidentally poke him! We laughed about it every time. And Gregg was a good sport, even after all the poking he was still willing to take a picture! 🙂
Next time I go to Flint by Baltaire it will be to try their happy hour—love a good happy hour and it looks like they have a pretty good happy hour menu!
Well, I hope you all had a great NYE and an amazing first day of 2020! And only two more weekdays till the weekend! Woo! 🙂
